Nottingham Forest captain Paul McKenna believes his side will not get carried away despite ending the year on the verge of the Championship's top two.
The Reds are currently two points behind second-placed West Brom.
But McKenna told BBC Radio Nottingham: "I think it's been well documented throughout the season that we don't want to get ahead of ourselves.
"We are on a great run but it could come to an end. We have to keep our heads down and keep the clean sheets."
Forest, who have not conceded a goal for five matches, took four points out of six over the festive period.

Saturday's 0-0 draw at Watford was followed by a 2-0 home victory over Coventry on Monday.
With Newcastle drawing their two matches over Christmas, the Reds have closed the gap on the Championship leaders to eight points.
But McKenna, 32, who made the play-offs five times in his days at Preston, points out: "As much as you can go on a good run you can go on a bad run.
"We are just enjoying it and we will try and keep the high going as long as possible."
