McGugan has found his starting chances limited this season
Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis McGugan says he is hopeful of forcing his way into the starting line-up.
The 21-year-old has started just two Championship games this season despite having been a regular last term.
Paul McKenna, Guy Moussi and Radoslaw Majewski have been keeping McGugan on the bench, but he has marked his last two appearances with stunning goals.
McGugan told BBC Radio Nottingham: "I've just got to keep on plugging away and keep on doing things right."
He added: "If the gaffer puts you on, your job is to try and influence the game.
"A couple of times I've done that now, so I've just got to keep on going."
McGugan earned Forest an equaliser with a half-volley at Cardiff, and more recently scored a spectacular goal from a seemingly impossible angle in the win over Doncaster.
He also scored from 35-yards in a recent reserve-team friendly.
