Davies insists Championship survival is Forest's first aim this term
Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies is refusing to talk about the possibility of a promotion push despite the 1-1 draw at high-flying Cardiff.
Lewis McGugan's late equaliser extended Forest's unbeaten league run to seven matches and means they are level on points with sixth-placed Middlesbrough.
Davies told BBC Radio Nottingham: "We have showed we're making good progress.
"But I've got be to realistic and if we can finish 10th, 11th or 12th that would be a good achievement."
The point at the Cardiff City Stadium also means the Reds have maintained their fine unbeaten away league record which stretches back to March when they were thumped 5-0 by Burnley.
A typically cautious Davies added: "We won't get carried and don't get carried away.
"There is a lot of work to be done and a lot of development to be done in this team.
"This season, for me, is all about trying to push ourselves into a strong mid-table position and if we can do that then we can make an attack on the top end of the table in the next couple of years."
