Pemberton leaves role at Forest

Nottingham Forest

Reserve-team coach John Pemberton has left Nottingham Forest by mutual consent after manager Billy Davies reorganised his coaching staff.

Pemberton has been part of the backroom staff for more than a decade and had a spell as caretaker boss last season.

The 44-year-old, whose deal will be terminated on 30 June, said: "I've had 12 great years at the City Ground and I'm proud of what I've achieved.

"But circumstances change and you have to move on."

The former Crystal Palace, Sheffield United and Leeds full-back initially started with the club's academy before being promoted to the role of reserve-team coach by previous manager Colin Calderwood in 2007.

He guided the club's reserves to the Central League title in 2008 as well as the runners-up spot last season and also helped develop several youth-team players such as James Perch, Wes Morgan and Lewis McGugan into first-team regulars.

Pemberton filled in as Forest's interim manager following Calderwood's dismissal in December last year and guided the club to victory over Norwich City in the league and the shock FA Cup win over Premier League side Manchester City.

He returned to his role with the reserves following Davies's appointment.

Meanwhile fitness coach Ryland Morgans has also left the club.

A club statement read: "The club would like to place on record their thanks to both men for their hard work and wish them every success for the future."
