Davies hails Forest achievement

Billy Davies
We've got to add to the squad... but we have a group of winners who are a fantastic bunch of players

Nottingham Forest boss Billy Davies

Billy Davies says keeping Nottingham Forest in the Championship is his "best high" in management.

Reading's 2-0 win at Norwich on Monday means Forest are four points clear of the drop zone with just one game left.

Reds boss Davies told BBC Radio Nottingham: "I've had many highs in the last few years but this high - without doubt - is the best to date.

"It's an outstanding achievement and everyone should be proud but it was far too close a call for a club this size."

Norwich's defeat means the final relegation spot is now between them and Barnsley.

And Davies was delighted to be able to go into Sunday's final game against Southampton safe in the knowledge Forest will not be playing in the third tier of English football come August.

He added: "Hopefully we can look forward to a very, very good season next season in the Championship.

"We've got to keep at the top end of the table and that is something we are determined to do.

"We've got to add to the squad and we have to have more consistency but we have a group of winners who are a fantastic bunch of players.

"They are a very young squad but with the attitude, determination and work ethic with this group and the staff anything is possible in the future."
