Davies has lost Nathan Tyson and Adam Newbold to injury
Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies says he hopes to bring in at least one player on loan before Tuesday's home match against his old club Preston.
Davies told BBC Radio Nottingham: "We've spoken about a couple of people, made a few phone calls and fingers crossed we can get something done.
"It would be a nice time to bring in some fresh faces with one or two guys coming back to full fitness."
Lewis McGugan gave Forest a surprise 1-0 win at Reading on Saturday.
But that win seems likely to cost Davies the services of Nathan Tyson, who picked up a groin strain, while Adam Newbold pulled a hamstring in training on Friday.
Davies added: "We're getting to the stage of the season where players are getting physically and mentally tired.
"We've got to very quickly develop a squad of players that can allow us to play different styles of play in different situations and we're working hard to do that."
The Reds are one place above the relegation zone on 37 points.
