Norwich City to prove Premier League point - Surman

Andrew Surman and Grant Holt celebrate a Norwich City goal
Andrew Surman celebrates with Norwich skipper Grant Holt after scoring the first of his two goals in a 3-0 friendly win over Parma at Carrow Road.

Andrew Surman says he and his Norwich City team-mates will be out to prove a point in the Premier League.

The 24-year-old midfielder joined the Canaries last summer after a difficult 12 months at Wolves, where he made just nine appearances.

Surman told BBC Radio Norfolk: "It was a frustrating time for me, but I feel like I've always got a point to prove, I think everyone has.

"Everyone want to prove themselves in the Premier League."

He added: "Look at the players we've got here, there's not much Premier League experience so everyone wants to prove they can do it and it's where everyone wants to be."

Paul Lambert has bolstered his squad with the signings of Kyle Naughton, Anthony Pilkington, Bradley Johnson, Elliott Bennett, Ritchie De Laet, James Vaughan and Steve Morison - all of whom have little or no Premier League experience.

Surman acknowledges that this lack of experience has played a part in the Canaries being labelled as one of the favourites for relegation but feels the squad has what it takes to survive.

"It doesn't really bother us, we know what we've got to do and we trust each other, there's a great team spirit here and we feel we're good enough to compete in the Premier League.

"Obviously everyone's probably going to write us off because we've just come up but we'll use that as motivation," he concluded.
