Lambert has yet to manage Norwich in an East Anglian derby

Norwich City boss Paul Lambert will watch Sunday's East Anglian derby from the stands after being hit with a two-match touchline ban.

The Football Association has also fined the City manager £2,500 after he was found guilty of improper conduct towards an official.

The former Scotland midfielder was charged in the aftermath of last week's 3-3 Championship draw with Reading.

The game saw Lambert sent to the stands for leaving his technical area.

Lambert, who received a touchline ban from the FA last term after a defeat by Tranmere, had pleaded guilty and attended a personal hearing at Wembley on Thursday in the hope of receiving a reduced punishment.

He will now be banned from the dugout for the Canaries' clash with local rivals Ipswich Town on Sunday and the trip to Derby County the week after.

Striker Grant Holt was also given his marching orders against the Royals, but his three-match ban was later rescinded.

Norwich face Ipswich for the first time in 19 months this weekend, after the Canaries' relegation to League One in 2009 deprived the clubs of a derby day fixture last season.
