Lappin has made 11 appearances for City this season
Midfielder Simon Lappin insists a change in formation should not have any bearing on his side's fortunes.
The Canaries switched from their familiar diamond to a 4-4-2 for Saturday's defeat of Middlesbrough.
Lappin, 27, told BBC Radio Norfolk: "You can talk about systems all day long but it's individuals that go and win a game.
"Whether it's 4-4-2, the diamond or whatever, everybody knows their role within the system."
The change in approach has seen Lappin move from a central position to a wide-left berth, with Steven Smith filling in at left-back for the injured Adam Drury.
I think he understands me more than Adam Drury because of the Scottish accent
Norwich's Simon Lapin on Steven Smith
The Scottish pair worked well together in the 1-0 win over Boro, and Lappin, who arrived at Carrow Road from St Mirren almost four years ago, is pleased with their progress.
"I think he understands me more than Adam Drury because of the Scottish accent," he joked.
"He's slotted in seamlessly, he's been superb in the games he's played.
"He's come in and looked sharp, we've got a good understanding. He's a fit guy, he'll get up and down and get crosses in the box."
City travel to Cardiff on Saturday, looking to close the six-point gap between them and the Bluebirds.
