Ability to change formation key to success for Norwich

A proven ability to change formation will stand Norwich City in good stead this season, according to striker Simeon Jackson.

The Canaries lined up in a standard 4-4-2 in beating Middlesbrough 1-0 at the weekend, deserting boss Paul Lambert's usual diamond formation.

Jackson, 23, told BBC Radio Norfolk: "Hopefully it's something we can keep up our sleeve for the future.

"Sometimes we need to change things so we are not predictable."

Jackson added: "It gives us width, which is different to how we normally play."

The Canaries had come unstuck in their last outing, going down 2-1 against Crystal Palace at Carrow Road.

Victory at the weekend pushed Lambert's side up to fourth in the Championship and condemned the Teesiders to the relegation places.

But despite their steady progress, Jackson, who by scoring the only goal of the game took his tally to four for the season, says City need to remain grounded.

"It's a great start but it's not about right now," he said.

"It's about where we are at the end of it. We have to keep maintaining consistency and keep picking up points any way we can."
