Norwich City full-back Russell Martin hopes manager Paul Lambert persists with the diamond formation that helped them gain promotion last season.
The City defence looked exposed in the season-opener against Watford but have since secured back-to-back wins with the system used in League One.
Martin, 24, told BBC Radio Norfolk: "That's the way we played last year and that's the way we got success.
"The formation gives full-backs freedom to get forward and it's enjoyable."
He added: "At times it can be difficult getting up and down for 90 minutes but there's going to be times when we're just going to have to defend."
The 3-2 defeat by Malky Mackay's Watford put a dampener on a pre-season of excitement around Carrow Road.

But the former Peterborough United man believes they are getting to grips with the pace of the Championship.
"One swallow doesn't make a summer and we knew that straight away," he said.
"We've done plenty of research into the way teams play in this league and we're not going to change the way we play."
The Canaries will be looking to build on Saturday's 1-0 win at Scunthorpe United when they host Swansea City this weekend.
