Norwich City keeper John Ruddy wants backing of fans

Goalkeeper John Ruddy has asked Norwich City fans to stick by their side after a third home defeat of the season.

Despite sitting fifth in the Championship there were grumblings from the Carrow Road faithful after Tuesday's 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace.

Ruddy, 23, told BBC Radio Norfolk: "The fans vented their frustration at the end of the game.

"But I urge them to go home and look at the league table and our performances this season and get behind us."

Watford and Hull City have also taken three points from their trips to Norwich this term, meaning the Canaries have won three and lost three league games on their own turf.

It is a stark contrast to their form on the road, which has seen them defeated only once and victorious three times.

Ruddy, a summer signing from Everton, said his side need to match up their performances in front of their own fans with their endeavours on their travels.

"We know how important home form is, we can't rely on going places," he said.

"We've got Cardiff and Burnley coming up in the next couple of weeks, so we can't rely on going there and picking up points.

"We'll be doing our utmost on Saturday to put the Palace defeat behind us."

Managerless Middlesbrough, who lie 21st in the table, are the visitors to Carrow Road this weekend.
