Stephen Elliott has scored just twice for Preston North End this season
Norwich City have signed Preston North End striker Stephen Elliott on loan until the end of the season.
The Republic of Ireland international will go straight into Paul Lambert's squad to play Yeovil on Saturday.
The 26-year-old told BBC Radio Norfolk: "Norwich are flying at the moment, everybody can see that.
"I've been part of two promotions to the Premier League with Sunderland so I'm hoping that experience can help the lads get over the line," he said.
Elliott, who passed his medical at Norwich's Colney training centre on Friday morning, says he is not looking any further than the next 12 games for now.
"As far as I'm looking now is until the end of the season, just to come here, try and do well and just see where that takes me," he said.
Norwich boss Paul Lambert said it was important he brought in somebody with experience to provide back-up to his free-scoring front three.
"When you're doing well you've got to try and kick on again, and he's different to what we've got," he said.
"We've been relying on Grant [Holt], Chrissy [Martin] and Wes [Hoolahan] for most of the season.
"Oli [Johnson] has come in and been different class for us, but he's only a young lad. Stephen knows what the game's about," he added.
Elliott signed for Preston from Wolves in September 2008, but has struggled at Deepdale, scoring just eight goals in 52 appearances, and has yet to figure under new North End boss Darren Ferguson.
The Dubliner cost Wolves £1m when he signed from Sunderland in 2007 and has a career tally of 36 goals in 174 games.
