Norwich City's appeal against midfielder Darel Russell's red card in the 2-0 defeat by Southampton has been dismissed by the Football Association.
The 29-year-old was given a straight red card after he challenged for a high ball at Carrow Road.
An FA disciplinary commission has thrown out the Canaries' appeal and Russell will begin his three-match ban against Southend on Tuesday.
He will also miss the matches against Oldham and Yeovil.
Norwich City manager Paul Lambert had been convinced that the club had a strong case and that the red card should not have been given.
Speaking on Monday, he told BBC Radio Norfolk: "I thought it was a really really poor decision.
"If they've got common sense, they'll see that that was never a red card. Never in a million years and I'll still stand by that."
