Norwich striker Grant Holt has said that a winter break in the football season would prevent fans making wasted journeys to postponed matches.
Around 2,000 Canaries fans travelled to Walsall on 28 December, only for the game to be called off because of a frozen pitch.
"It's becoming a bit of a shambles," Holt told BBC Radio 5 live.
"Decisions need to be made. They are going to have to start having breaks over Christmas."
Fans who travelled to the Banks's Stadium from Norfolk are entitled to refunds, but many are angry that the game was postponed so close to the scheduled kick-off.
"These people are working all week and paying good money to travel up there and then it gets called off," added Holt.
"We know that Christmas and New Year is a big period when a lot of families want to go to games.
"Our fans travelled for five hours to get to Walsall. They've gone up there ready for the game and then it gets called off at two o'clock."
