Norwich City press Colchester for extra away tickets

Norwich City

Norwich City have asked Colchester United for a second time to increase their allocation of tickets for their League One clash in January.

Colchester have already refused to increase the number of tickets from 1,900 Canaries fans.

Norwich are confident that more than 2,000 supporters will want to travel to the clash between the promotion rivals.

Colchester beat Norwich 7-1 in August with manager Paul Lambert moving to Norwich just 10 days later.

It is the second time in a week that the Canaries have asked their East Anglian rivals for more tickets and City chairman Alan Bowkett has been disappointed with the U's stance.

"We urge them to reconsider their decision, as it seems a shame to potentially stop Norwich City supporters who want to go and watch the game from doing so when the demand is clearly there," he told the club's official website.

"Ban me from the match but not our fantastic vocal fans."

The decision comes as the two clubs still have not agreed on a compensation package following Lambert's switch from Colchester to Norwich in August.

The U's have reported Norwich and Paul Lambert to the Football League for breaching regulations and misconduct.

A Football Disciplinary Commission will be set up to investigate the complaint.
