Injury ends keeper's Norwich stay

Goalkeeper Ben Alnwick has returned to Spurs after a hip injury effectively ended his loan spell at Norwich City.

The 22-year-old suffered the injury during Tuesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy win over Brentford.

Norwich boss Paul Lambert told BBC Radio Norfolk: "I think he'll be out for about four to six weeks, that could take him up to the middle of October.

"Then he'd only have two weeks left here. The best decision was for him to go and get his rehab done at Spurs."

Fraser Forster is expected to be first-choice in the Norwich goal after keeping a clean sheet at Hartlepool when Alnwick was out with a cut to his eye.

Lambert this week extended Forster's one-month loan from Newcastle until January.

"I had to get somebody in before the Hartlepool game because of Ben's injury to his eye," he said.

"Fraser's come in and done great, Ben's got to go back, but you've still got Michael [Theoklitos] and Declan [Rudd]."
