Tozer has scored once in his 16 games for the Cobblers - against Bradford

Northampton Town have extended Newcastle United defender Ben Tozer's loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old centre half, who has made 16 appearances for the Cobblers so far this season, will now remain at Sixfields until May.

Manager Ian Sampson told BBC Radio Northampton: "He's young and he's still learning his job as a centre-half.

"He's formed a good partnership with Dean Beckwith and, give or take one or two errors, he's been good."

Meanwhile, fellow defender Craig Hinton has returned to Sixfields upon the conclusion of his loan spell with Luton Town.

Striker Craig King has one more game before his latest loan period expires after the Cheltenham Town match.
