Northampton extend loan spell of Newcastle's Ben Tozer
Tozer has only made one appearance for Newcastle in the League Cup
Northampton Town have extended the loan deal of Newcastle defender Ben Tozer to keep him at the club until 9 January.
After struggling to get a first-team place at his parent club, the 20-year-old joined the Cobblers in September and has since made 13 appearances.
Tozer told BBC Radio Northampton: "The last two years, when I've had no first- team games, has been so frustrating.
"I got to the stage where I thought I wouldn't get anywhere. But now I'm here, I've got the confidence back."
He added: "I'm taking every game as it comes, and when the January transfer window opens, we'll see what happens then.
"I'm enjoying playing with Dean Beckwith. He's a good, experienced defender, and we play well together. It's different for me, because I've been playing with young centre-backs in the reserves [at Newcastle].
"I think we compliment each other in different ways. He's brilliant in the air, he reads the game well and he's a solid defender."
The former Swindon Town man says he will have to wait and see what new Newcastle manager Alan Pardew decides to do with him.
"I've tried not to think about it. I don't know what he'll think because he could throw me straight out, or give me a chance. I'll have to see what happens."
