Northampton Town's Ian Sampson issues contract reminder

Sampson's own contract runs out in the summer

Northampton Town manager Ian Sampson says his players are playing for new contracts this season.

Only four of the Cobblers' senior players have contracts beyond July.

"From my own personal point of view when I was running out of contract I was determined to get another one," Sampson told BBC Radio Northampton.

"A lot of them are out of contract this summer so I am sure they are the same. They need to be working to look after their families and pay their bills."

He added: "They're not super-rich Premier League stars. They're lower league footballers on average wages.

"We'll see if we can extend this run a little bit and start creeping up the table and then we'll look at it (contracts) probably around Easter-time."
