Hinton backs Cobblers' management

Hinton is looking to the Cobblers to end 2009 on a high note

Northampton Town defender Craig Hinton has insisted their management team is taking the club in the right direction.

The Cobblers bowed out of the FA Cup at home to Southampton on Saturday and now prepare to entertain Hereford United in League Two on Tuesday night (1945 GMT).

"I think the gaffer [manager Ian Sampson] and Cros [assistant Malcolm Crosby] are trying to push us forward," Hinton told BBC Radio Northampton.

"They've come in and brought some positivity and life to the club.

"Tuesday is a most important game for us. We need to start climbing the league with two or three wins before Christmas," he added.

"That would give us a nice base to move ahead."

Northampton are currently 18th in the table, just two points behind Tuesday's opponents.
