Northampton Town have signed striker Billy McKay on a one-year contract from Leicester City.
The 20-year-old was released from the Walkers Stadium at the end of last season, despite impressing in the Foxes' academy and reserve teams.
"Billy has a terrific attitude and a real determination to succeed," said Cobblers manager Stuart Gray.
"He's impressed both in training and in pre-season matches and this is a fantastic chance for him to progress."
McKay scored for Northampton in friendlies against both Corby Town and Coventry City.
