Northampton Town manager Stuart Gray says that playing Histon will prepare his side for League Two football.
The Cobblers travel to Bridge Road for their second pre-season game, after the 1-0 win over Brackley on Saturday.
Gray told the club's website: "Histon are renowned for playing quite direct and that is something we need to be able to cope with this season.
"We hand-picked this game with the plan of giving us a really tough physical examination," he added.
Histon were in the Blue Square Premier play-offs last season, and beat Leeds United in the FA Cup second round.
"Histon beat West Brom on Saturday and they will want to beat us as well.
"We will need to stand up and be tough and it will be an excellent test for us, early on in pre-season," he said.
Kick-off is at 1945 BST.
