Dyer signed his professional contract at Sixfields in July 2007

Northampton Town's young midfielder Alex Dyer has signed an extension to his contract at the League One club.

The 18-year-old, who is a product of the Cobblers' youth system, has already made 14 appearances for the first team so far.

Dyer's 12-month extension will keep him at Sixfields until at least June 2010.

Northampton boss Stuart Gray told the club website: "Alex is potentially a very good player and that's why we've given him this contract."
