Benjamin had a successful loan spell at Brackley Town
Northampton Town have handed youth-team striker Joe Benjamin an 18-month professional contract.
The 18-year-old joined the club's centre of excellence three years ago, having previously been released by West Ham United.
He made his first-team debut as a substitute against Millwall last year.
"When I found out I was over the moon but I still know I have a lot of work to do to try and get into the first team," Benjamin told BBC Northampton.
"He's done well; he's forced his way into the first team squad but there's still a lot of improvement and hard work to come," commented Cobblers manager Stuart Gray.
"I think he realises now he has an opportunity to break into the first team squad." added Gray
