Kevin Nolan continues Newcastle United title pursuit

Newcastle midfielder Kevin Nolan has refuted claims that the players will relax in games having already assured promotion to the Premier League.

Tuesday's 2-1 win at Reading has left the Magpies needing just a point to win the title, and Nolan has said the players are hungry to finish the job.

"People were saying we might take our foot off the pedal, but that's not like us," Nolan told BBC Newcastle.

"We're determined to do a lot of things and we want to win our three games."

Nolan added: "There's one more point needed to seal it, and with the run we're on, we're not going to let up."

Newcastle have won 28 of their 43 league games so far this season, while defeat of Ipswich in the club's final home game would seal a whole season unbeaten at St James' Park.

Just two more wins would take the club past the 100-point mark and Nolan revealed it is the determination of the current players which has been the key factor in the club's achievements this season.

"It proves when you see all the Ws (wins) on our sheet why we are where we are," Nolan said.

"We're a determined bunch who want to do well, we work hard together and we create a lot of chances."
