Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley has admitted he would welcome external investment at St James' Park.
Ashley also responded to suggestions in the media that he is looking to sell his stake in the club.
"That is not true. I would say that I am keen to have partners in Newcastle," Ashley told the Evening Standard.
The billionaire's comments came as his Sports Direct empire reported that profits for the year to April halved after a drop in sales.
Ashley took control of Newcastle United from the Hall family in June 2007 for a figure of around �133m.
