Stuart Broad took three wickets for Nottinghamshire against Durham after he was left out of the England side with the hint that he needed a rest.

Broad helped dismiss his side's Division One rivals Durham for 266, with fellow seamer Charlie Shreck grabbing 4-69.

"I've certainly never come out and said I needed a rest," said Broad.

The hosts replied with 6-0 in the three overs they had to negotiate before the end of the day's play.
