Morecambe midfielder Neil Wainwright has been ruled out for the rest of the season with an Achilles injury.
Wainwright had been suffering with the problem for a number of weeks and was substituted at half time in Morecambe's last two league games.
Shrimps boss Sammy McIlroy told the club's website: "It's a big blow for us and for Neil.
"Being the lad he is, he has been desperate to play through the pain and he has done well despite suffering."
McIlroy added: "He has been one of our most consistent players in the past few months and has done a great job for us.
"But we don't want him to make things any worse because we want to make sure he is ready for the pre-season.''
Meanwhile, Wayne Curtis and Fraser McLachlan have verbally agreed to sign new one-year contracts.
The pair have agreed the deals which will keep them at Christie Park until the end of the 2009/10 season.
