McIlroy is disappointed after seeing his side drop points in key games
Manager Sammy McIlroy said he believed Morecambe would have been pushing for a play-off place if they had been able to turn half of their draws into wins.
The Shrimps have drawn 12 of their 29 league games played, leaving them 14 points off seventh spot in League Two.
"We're not killing teams off and keeping clean sheets," McIlroy told BBC Radio Lancashire.
"If we'd picked up four more wins which we should have had we'd be involved in the play-off situation."
Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Lincoln City was the seventh time Morecambe have shared the points at home this season.
"It's a team thing," said McIlroy.
"It's not solely a defensive or forward problem, it's something we've got to work on on both sides."
Morecambe host Chester at the weekend, looking for a repeat of last season's 5-3 victory at Christie Park.
