McIlroy has guided Morecambe to 14th in League Two
Morecambe manager Sammy McIlroy has bemoaned their injury crisis after Craig Stanley and Fraser McLachlan were injured in the draw with Lincoln.
The pair have joined Rene Howe and Henry McStay on the sidelines to leave McIlroy with just 14 fit players.
He told BBC Radio Lancashire: "It's soul-destroying. I've never seen the injuries at a football club that we have had throughout this season."
He may ask the Football League to lift their transfer embargo on the Shrimps.
The Football League embargo is in place because Morecambe's wage bill exceeds 60% of the club's income.
We won't know what the side's going to be until the last moment
Sammy McIlroy on Saturday's game with Chester
"We're in dire straights at the moment as far as the squad is concerned, and surely the Football League has got to take this into consideration," McIlroy said.
Stanley will be out for up to two months with a metatarsal injury, while McLachlan is sidelined with a hamstring problem.
With only 14 fit players remaining, McIlroy admits he has very few options left for the visit of Chester on Saturday.
"We won't know what the side's going to be until the last moment.
"We are very thin in numbers, and they were two injuries I didn't need."
