Striker Jon Newby has returned to the Football League after signing for League Two newcomers Morecambe. The former Liverpool trainee, 28, was released by Southport in May following their relegation from the Conference.
He linked up with the Shrimps in pre-season, scoring twice in friendlies, and has now signed a one-year contract at Christie Park.
Newby played for Bury (two spells), Huddersfield, Wrexham and Southport after leaving Anfield.
He also had loan spells at Carlisle, Crewe, Sheffield United, York and Kidderminster.
