Former Huddersfield and Bury striker Jon Newby is one of five players to be released by Southport following their relegation to Conference North. Newby, 28, joined Port in January from Wrexham and scored once in 11 outings.
Striker Paul Tait, defender Chris Lane, as well as keepers Paul Harrison and John Bagnall have also left.
Loan players Dino Maamria, Mark Birch, Sean Paterson and Terry Smith have returned to their parent clubs but Carl Baker has signed a new deal.
