Conference strugglers Southport have secured the signing of former Bury and Wrexham striker Jon Newby. Newby has joined the Sandgrounders following his recent release by Wrexham where he had been on a short-term contract earlier this season.
The 28-year-old, who started his career at Liverpool and also had a spell at Huddersfield, arrives with more than 200 league appearances behind him.
Newby made his debut in Saturday's home defeat by Forest Green Rovers.
