 Spackman says Millwall are "still capable of turning things around" |
League One side Millwall have parted company with manager Nigel Spackman. The club said Spackman's exit after five successive defeats was by mutual consent, and placed his assistant Willie Donachie in temporary charge.
Spackman said: "Naturally I am very disappointed that results have not gone for us so far this season.
"In my short time at The Den, I very much enjoyed my association with Millwall and I wish the club all the very best for the future."
Lions chairman Stewart Till said: "This has been a very difficult decision for both parties.
"Unfortunately circumstances have dictated that things have not worked out as either he or we anticipated in the first 10 games of the season."
Till thanked Spackman "for all his professionalism and hard work" and added that "our supporters will understand just how momentous a decision this has been for all of us to take so early in the season."
Spackman, who had been in charge for four months, had said after Saturday's 1-0 defeat by Northampton: "If you don't get results, your head is on the line."
