Miller began his career with Falkirk

New Middlesbrough striker Lee Miller believes he will have no problems settling in at the club thanks to the presence of several familiar faces.

The 26-year-old, who joined from Aberdeen this week, was a team-mate of Leroy Lita at Bristol City and Josh Walker at Pittodrie.

He is also familiar with Boro's contingent of former Celtic players.

Miller told BBC Tees: "It's good to know the boys from up the road, hopefully I can settle in quickly."

He added: "It helps with the bedding in process."

Miller joins Stephen McManus, Barry Robson, Chris Killen, Scott McDonald, Willo Flood and Walker among the group of Boro players who have moved south from Scotland.

His arrival has increased the competition for forward places at the Riverside with eight strikers now on the books.

Boss Gordon Strachan will be hoping this triggers a turnaround in the fortunes of a side which has managed just 12 goals in 14 home games this season.

Miller is hopeful he can boost the Boro tally and bolster their push for a play-off spot in the Championship.

"Obviously I'll bring whatever I can to the team and contribute in other ways," he said.

"But as a striker I'm paid to score goals and hopefully I can do that."

Miller has made 284 league appearances in England and Scotland during his 10-year career, scoring 80 goals, and is in line for his Middlesbrough debut at Ipswich on Saturday.
