Middlesbrough have completed the signing of Arsenal left-back Justin Hoyte for a fee of �3m.

The 23-year-old graduate of the Gunners' academy joins the Teesside club on a four-year contract.

Former England Under-21 international Hoyte struggled to establish himself in the first team at Arsenal and spent the 2005-06 season on loan at Sunderland.

Hoyte completed a medical on Saturday but the deal was not completed in time for him to play against Tottenham.

He will be unveiled to the Boro crowd ahead of the Premier League opener against Spurs at the Riverside Stadium.

Hoyte made his Gunners debut at the end of the 2002/2003 season and went on to play a total of 68 games for the club.
