Duncan Russell backs Mansfield to progress in FA Trophy

Mansfield Town boss Duncan Russell is confident his side will beat Chasetown in their FA Trophy quarter-final replay at Field Mill on Tuesday.

"The last thing I wanted was fixture congestion but we have a big enough squad to cope," Russell told BBC Radio Nottingham after Tuesday's 2-2 draw.

"It would have been lovely to get through but we know what they are about now and I'm sure we'll win next week."

The Stags are in Blue Square Bet Premier action at Tamworth on Saturday.

But Russell expected to be facing the Lambs on the back of securing a Trophy semi-final tie with Luton after their first meeting with Chasetown on Tuesday.

Paul Connor's superb long-range strike put the Stags ahead but they missed a number of chances to double that lead and the hosts hit back through Jimmy Turner.

And despite Louis Briscoe restoring the advantage with another superb 25-yard shot, Russell's men conceded a soft late equaliser when Richard Davies netted after goalkeeper David Grof spilled a corner.

"Groffy's dropped it," Russell said. "It was in hands and he dropped it and the lad was there to pop it in.

"But he pulled off some good saves before that and the game should have been over in the first half.

"I don't think their goalkeeper [Ryan Price] will have another day like that for the rest of his life. He pulled off some fantastic saves.

"If that keeper has another game like that then I'll go and sign him!"
