Charlie Lee's goal handed Peterborough an important victory over Notts County.
Lee's strike lit up a dour game when he received the ball just inside the Notts half before racing towards goal and firing into the top corner.
Grant McCann's 20-yard free kick hit a post in the first half as both sides struggled to provide a sustained attacking threat.
For the visitors, Alan Gow's tame shot and Kevin McDonald's 20-yard drive were both well saved by Posh's Joe Lewis.
Notts County assistant manager Alex Rae told BBC Radio Nottingham: "I think we did enough to get something out the game and I'm a bit disappointed we allowed the guy to run 30 yards and get a strike off.
"Overall we're pleased with the endeavour and what we brought to the table.
"I think in terms of creating clear-cut chances we didn't really create too many."
Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "It was a real battle, they came out and started the game well.
"Our back four were magnificent and Joe [Lewis] made an outstanding save late on.
"We dug in towards the end of the game - this is a tough place to come."
