Mansfield Town have won the race to sign centre-half Luke Foster from Oxford United for an undisclosed fee.
Foster, 24, was being chased by two other high-flying Blue Square Premier clubs but has opted to move to Field Mill on an 18-month deal.
Boss David Holdsworth said: "He has come for the right reasons and sees us as potential promotion candidates."
Foster began his career at Sheffield Wednesday and also played for Lincoln City before Joining Oxford in 2007.
