Holdsworth admits Stags need work

Mansfield boss David Holdsworth has admitted his side still have a lot of work if they are to challenge top sides next season after losing 3-0 to Histon.

Holdworth has led the Stags to a safe mid-table position since taking over.

After Tuesday's defeat, he told BBC Radio Nottingham: "You have to come here and manage the game. We failed to do that because we switched off.

"For Mansfield Town to make that step up we need to have a broader picture and evaluate every game."

Holdsworth added: "We need a dressing room equipped to do that [evaluate every game] and if that's painful for people to listen to then so be it.

"They're fighting for their futures and we're fighting for Mansfield Town - I am in every game.

"I'm aware that there are a lot of aspects that our football club need to improve on... and you can't do it overnight."

The Stags travel to Wrexham on Saturday.
