Mansfield Town have signed Leicester City defender Scott Garner and former Ilkeston Town forward Louis Briscoe.
Garner, 18, recently had a loan spell with Ilkeston under Stags boss David Holdsworth and signs an 18-month deal.
He told BBC Radio Nottingham: "Scott Garner is someone I know and brings a degree of strength and height - he's potentially a very good centre-half.
"And Louis is a young boy with bags of potential, the fans will like him - he's got inner strength and height."
Holdsworth added: "I've worked with Scott before.
"He comes on and wins the first ball and it's imperative we do that a little bit more than we have done this season."
Holdsworth has also brought in Newport County striker Rob Duffy, Rushden & Diamonds goalkeeper Alan Marriott and midfielder Curtis Woodhouse.
The 18-year-old former Chesterfield youth goalkeeper Dan Whatsize has also come to Field Mill on trial.
Holdsworth replaced manager Billy McEwan last month - who was sacked after just five months in charge at Field Mill.
