Marriott made more than 350 league appearances for Lincoln

Mansfield Town have signed Rushden & Diamonds goalkeeper Alan Marriott until the end of the season.

The 30-year-old is David Holdsworth's second signing since taking charge at Field Mill, joining former Diamonds team-mate Curtis Woodhouse.

Marriott told BBC Radio Nottingham: "We are in a false league position - you put a couple of decent results together and we'll push away from the bottom."

He spent nine years with League Two club Lincoln City.

Marriott added: "You know the potential is here with the good squad we've got but it is a tough league.

"If we get going with this team and fan base we could fly up the table."

Marriott made 350 league appearances for the Imps before being released in 2008 and joined the Diamonds in July.
