Stags chief explains deal delay
Field Mill, home of Mansfield Town
Mansfield will lease Field Mill from former chairman Keith Haslam
Mansfield Town chairman James Derry has explained why his consortium's purchase of the club from managing director Keith Haslam has been delayed.

Derry told Mansfield's website: "There are stringent Football League rules in forming a new company following the problems at Leeds and other clubs.

"Things need to be done in greater detail to assess the liabilities when you are taking on a football club.

"I expect (the contract) to be sorted out sooner rather than later."

Derry announced just over a week ago that he had agreed to buy the Stags from Haslam, who has retained ownership of their Field Mill ground and will lease it to the club.

John Thorpe and Ian Randall are set to join the Stags as associate directors once the takeover has been finalised.
