City manager Kevin Keegan said he was unconvinced West had the fitness levels that would make him a worthwhile signing. "The big problem is his fitness," Keegan said. "He has not played for three months, which makes it difficult for me to assess him." West last played football competitively at the World Cup. "Also, we don't have anyone going out of the club, so there is no room for him," Keegan added. "He is more than welcome to carry on training with us, but I don't think anything is going to happen." West was sacked by his last club, German side Kaiserslautern, after a bizarre incident in which he missed a league game claiming he was sick only to fly to Milan to attend a birthday party. |
