Macclesfield Town reject bid for striker Emile Sinclair
Sinclair has scored twice in 12 starts so far this season
Macclesfield Town manager Gary Simpson has confirmed the club have rejected a bid for striker Emile Sinclair.
The 22-year-old former Bradford City youngster initially joined the club on loan from Nottingham Forest before agreeing a permanent deal in May 2009.
Simpson told BBC Radio Manchester: "I told Emile [about the bid] straight away as soon as I heard about it.
"He was quite happy to stay as it was somebody in this division and he wants to move higher, which is good."
Sinclair initially progressed through the youth system at Bradford City before moving to Forest and has had loan spells at Mansfield and Brentford.
In his first full season at the Moss Rose the Leeds-born forward was joint-top scorer with Ricky Sappleton.
Simpson added: "Obviously if a six-figure fee came in for him or anybody else for that matter we'd have to sit down and consider it because the first thing is this club has got to go on.
"You've got to think about the player as well if it's a bid from somebody in this division it's a sideways move really and if some of these lads are going to go I want them to move up.
"We're ambitious and obviously we want to keep our better players but if a stupid bid comes in then we have to look at it."
