Macclesfield players set contract renewal date

Gary Simpson
Simpson took charge of Macclesfield following the death of Keith Alexander

Macclesfield boss Gary Simpson wants to tie down more players for next season after offering them contracts.

Since securing their League status Simpson has already secured the futures of five players for next season, including Ross Draper and Colin Daniel.

Simpson told the club's official website: "I've been talking to a lot of the younger players.

"But we've also been able to offer deals to the senior lads like [Lee] Bell, [Jon] Brain, and [Nat] Brown."

Simpson added: "We're working hard behind the scenes.

"You can come to an agreement with some players faster than others but that doesn't mean we're not talking to them.

"I've basically told them the same thing which is that we need to know where we stand as a club, so they have an offer and we've given them a date where we really need to know by.

"Hopefully we'll be seeing more movement in the not too distant future."
