Macclesfield boss Gary Simpson believes his 18-year-old striker Vinnie Mukendi can blossom into an impressive player.

Mukendi, who signed a two-year contract with the Silkmen earlier this month, scored his first League Two goal in the 2-0 win against Chesterfield.

Simpson told BBC Radio Manchester: "The lad has a big future if he keeps his feet on the ground, keeps learning and keeps doing what he's told.

"He's got a big future ahead of him but I'm pleased with all the players."

He added: "We haven't scored a lot of goals, if you like, this season but how we've been playing the pitches have suited us at the minute.

"We can put teams under a bit of pressure, the back four has been resilient and, yes, we're going well at the minute."
