Bolton Wanderers midfielder Matthew Taylor has revealed his form this season has been affected by a bout of glandular fever.
Taylor, 28, told BBC Radio Manchester: "I didn't feel myself and I went and had a blood test.
"It proved somewhere along the line in the past six months that I had glandular fever.
"I wasn't my usual self and out of the team and it was frustrating just watching the games."
He added: "I couldn't tell you when it was but it answered a few questions for me as I wasn't playing particularly well.
Despite the illness, Taylor has featured in 34 league games scoring eight goals.
Taylor came on as a substitute against Stoke at the weekend with his side trailing and scored two goals in the last 10 minutes to secure a 2-1 win.
