Simpson took over at Macclesfield following the death of Keith Alexander

Macclesfield manager Gary Simpson says he will be working with a similar wage budget next season.

He told BBC Radio Manchester: "We've got the same budget and some of these young lads have been on not a lot of money at all.

"I've spoken to seven already and I'll be speaking to more next week."

Ross Draper and Vinny Mukendi have recently signed new deals at Moss Rose but many of the squad are out of contract in the summer.

Simpson added: "We're just trying to juggle the numbers to see what we can afford and what we can keep.

"It's always going to be difficult but we're doing the best we can."

Simpson was named permanent Silkmen manager earlier this month after taking over following Keith Alexander's death.
